SURPLUS

Over 3 years, I have moved to 3 different apartments. With each moving there is always an accumulation of surplus. For me its an accumulation of clothes and boxes and random objects that used to have a purpose but now are mostly collecting dust.
My idea for the project is to use cardboard boxes that I have accumulated from ordering items and keeping them because I have relocated often. Moving includes feelings of stress personally, and requires adjustment. the way I will structure my sculpture will be around the visual aspect of stress and adjustment, and also showing that inside this surplus and waste is often invisible to us. hidden behind doors and random lost cabinets. this waste/surplus is often not really useful to us either.
I made these "money trees", using old receipts, one tree is planted in a vivienne westwood jewelry box and two others in dead plant pot.

I want the viewer to link moving, the housing crisis with its environmental problems.

There is a big housing crisis right now in Montreal, people do not end up getting a choice out of their living situation.

Judgment day for surplus is when someone moves out of their space to another space, deciding what is surplus and what is necessary back into question.

MAKE OR CREATE A HAND TOOL

the paintbrush is an ancient tool used by many many people yet I don't seem to find many new different types of brushes. I'm curious as to why are brushes, who date back from prehistoric times, haven't changed much in terms of appearance or utility.

does a brush have to apply paint? Can a brush also create music and sound?

For this project i intent on pushing forward the concept of what is a brush, using unconventional materials as bristles and a musical instrument will be implemented within the handle. or in a way where the artist may play music while painting.
Objects that tell a story!

Skateboarding and art are very closely related to me, in a way when I slide with my board on obstacles around the city it creates a mark, just how a brushstroke on a painting would.

Each object in itself have a different story and all together they make a new one.
what I am ending up creating is a sort of shrine to the objects that I love. such as skateboarding and painting, also consuming.
consuming whether its by playing video games, watching a movie or some sort of entertainment.
